Art

Scroll past all of the text to see some of the pieces of art that I have done.

My art has been guided away from physical drawing to computer drawing by my own interest in graphic art. I still draw with a pencil and paper, but I do more on the computer than by hand. The first page that interested be in graphic art was probably Sandara.net, an art website that has these absolutely amazing pictures done in water color, ink, or on the computer. All of them are extremely amazing, even the earlier ones. I really wanted to be able to create things like that, so I started working on stuff. Shortly thereafter, I had my very first exposure to a network of sites, but it wasn’t the artsy art sites that I admire so much now – it was the artsy anime sites. The ones with all the bright colors, blinking, block text, and an obsession with anything from Hellsing to Tokyo Mew Mew, Chobits to Cowboy Bebop (the anime fan in me came out slightly just there.) Most of them had table layouts, bright themes, and well defined lines (not to mention colossal navigation lists – how does a site have that many links?)

So my first layouts and graphic art attempts were influenced by these sites. Then, after I had dried out my supply of anime pictures to use in layouts and had been creating simple ones with little to no graphics (see my early layouts – “hidden bliss” is a good example *cringe*) I came across my next network of inspiration – the artsy websites.

I began making graphics with new fervor and suddenly – last school year – I was introduced to deviantART. It was a rather memorable moment, actually. We were having a free day in Programming class, and a kid in my form asked me to check to see if “deviantart.com” was blocked on my computer, because it was on his. I checked, and the page came up – and smack in the middle of the page was an absolutely beautiful picture – a photograph – by larafaerie (amazing work, check her out.) It was called “Wild is the Wind.” After I saw it and some of the other stuff she had, it was a must that I get a dA.

So I did.

Now, I am at over 200 deviations. They range from t-shirts to photo manipulations and then some, but most of them are surreal Photoshop graphics and fractal art. So if you want to see most of my art, go to my deviantART. Here are some of the graphics I like the most.

Fractal Art

The next section is a specific kind of abstract art called fractal art. For those of you who don't know what fractal art is, let me explain in my own terms: fractal art is art created using math and programming. Things like cosine and powers affect how the "flames" behave, and using fractal programming, you can create artwork. I guess you can say that old school fractal art was the stuff where you would keep drawing in shapes around a point until it made like a flower.

All of my fractal art is created using a program called Apophysis. It is a free download, and anyone can use it really. It requires little fractal programming and manipulation knowledge (unless you want to have complete control over your flame or want to create scripts.) All of my stuff, compared to what is out there, is really novice. There recently was an update called Apophysis 3D hack, which was actually created by someone on dA, and this is basically Apophysis with 3D capabilities. Once you've worked with it a bit, you understand how to manipulate the flames to create anything. I can't go back to regular Apophysis since I got it; it's too awesome

Traditional Art

I mostly do computer art, and I have fallen out of practice with drawing anime/manga (like I used to.) I occasionally create something really decent with regular pencil, but I have been doing more with charcoal pencil as of late, and I stick to that a lot now. I also have a few paintings and other things that I need to upload at some point, so look forward to those. My traditional art, especially my painting, has some technical difficulties that I am slowly learning to foresee and straighten out, but I have improved from my first attempts and hope to keep improving. Can you tell which one was my first real charcoal drawing? I bet you can. Hint - it's the worst one in the bunch.

Themed Works

This is art that is based off of a movie, TV series, book series, or something else like a fanfiction or video game. Most of these are Harry Potter works, and there aren't that many right now, but there will definitely be more soon, since I have a lot of cravings for fanart pieces.

Photography

I have finally gotten a camera (and I love it - it's green!) so I have started doing photography as well. I want to learn more about it so I can do more than just snap random pictures of things that "look cool." I will eventually start doing some research on it. But for now, here are the pieces that I have done so far.

Wallpapers

These are free for you to use as desktop wallpapers. I don't have many, but there will be more to come. Enjoy!
